From: Risė Biggs, systems analyst, rkbiggs@yahoo.com I too was named for Risė Stevens. I added the umlaut about 20 years ago because I got tired of being called Rise with a long I. I got all the usual jokes asking if I "Rise with the sun". I was painfully shy as a child and the name didn't help. (It was very embarrassing as a child because people would always say Rise with a long I. In seventh grade I started going by my middle name but switched back to Risė in high school.) Now I love my name and am surprised every time I hear it somewhere. I did find a baby name book a few years ago with Risė in it. I bought it just so I could show people it was a real name. |
