I laughed so hard as I, too, have those horrifying memories of the personalized do-dads that never, ever, had my (our) name. I was also named after Risė Stevens, the great opera star.

Just like the rest of you, my experiences have ranged from embarrassment as a child to enlightening others as to it's origin, etc. I found this site when I was searching for our namesake, trying to find an autobio or bio of Risė Stevens.

This is too cool. So nice to meet others who share such a unique name as ours.
