From: Risė Carleen King, 45, registered nurse, Boonville, Ind., IReadRudy@aol.com I was named after Risė Stevens my mother was a fan. I was told that Risė Stevens used to advertise Chesterfield Cigarettes on the back of Look magazine in the 1950s. My mother was reading Look while in labor with me and it reminded her to name me after Risė Stevens. One of my patients has a daughter named Risė. She said that made me her favorite nurse. I also have an album by a singer named Risa Potters. Has anyone heard of her? I just recently thought to look up "Risė Stevens" on the Internet. I don't know why I never thought of it before. Fascinating information about her I am so glad to know Risė has a Norwegian origin. I have the same experiences (of being called Reese's Peanut Butter Cup in grade school) that most all of us have had. Of course, people still make the mistake of calling me "rise" with a long "i". I tell everyone "it is like Lisa with an 'R' except there is an 'e' umlaut on the end." Some poor folks look at the name totally perplexed. |
