professional,
catsalady@yahoo.com The most fun was when I lived in Japan. The staff would introduce me correctly as Risė, but since Japanese have trouble with the 'R' and 'L' sounds, folks assumed my name was really Lisa. I would then introduce myself as Risė with an 'R,' which worked great till I met Rinda with an 'R.' Wow! I just read a bunch of you other Rise's comments and I'm sure glad I'm not the only one who gets the Reese's Pieces jokes (maybe someday there will be enough of us so that non-original joke will cease). I too am Jewish and first-born (1946) and my Hebrew name is Rifka. I was named after Risė Stevens; my mother was an opera fanatic. It's so great to not be alone in having this weird name! (My first name is even weirder, but also a Latin name). Risė is my middle name, but the one I've always gone by. If any of you would like to e-mail me, please feel free to do so. |
