I was delighted and surprised that there are so many of "US". After reading
all of your stories, it put a big smile on my face. As the meaning of OUR name is
"laughter". I try and live my life with a lot of it. I have had my name for 52
years. Growing up, like many of you, many mispronunciations and misspellings, asking me
what "Reesa" was short for? etc.
I was named after my grandmother, Rebecca, and
like some of you, am also Jewish. Growing up with such an unusual first name was bad
enough. I also have a very unusual middle name "Dorne". and had Red or
Strawberry blond hair, (depending on who you talk to) and freckles. And I WAS very shy. It
seemed like in school everyone had a very common name and brown hair. Many years ago (as
an adult) I began LOVING my name.
Most people don't know another "Reesa". It is
funny how I was excited when Reese's Pieces came out because I finally had something to
help people remember my name. Ten years ago, we got new neighbors. I went next door and
introduced myself...the couple broke out in laughter. They have a grown daughter named
Risa. What is the likelihood of that happening? Also, the lady that does my nails is also
named Risa. Like she already told you, she has a brother named Shawn, who was friends with
my son named Sean. She is the one that turned my on to this page. Would love to know where
you are all from! Thanks Reesa Marchetti, what great fun !
