I was named by my brother who was 3 years old at the time. My name would have
been Teresa, but his cute way of pointing at my mother's stomach and saying
Reesa, rather than Teresa, was the deciding factor in giving me this special
moniker. Funny thing, my mother is Hispanic, and I still have no idea why she
did not spell my name Risa, and have no way to ask her, since she passed away
early in my youth.
In Spanish, risa is laughter, and I do tend to joke around all the time. I
have been called carcajadas, which is something close to giggles, or guffaws
(maybe one of you will be able to tell me). The name of my band, much to my own
chagrin, is Reesa's Monkey, a play on words for Rhesus Monkey. The guys in the
band, and our friends think it is cute, but many have no idea what the reference
is to, or what a rhesus monkey is. Having met only one other Reisa in my life, I
was amazed to see just how many women share this name with me.
I keep trying to find my band pages and always get the Reesa Marchetti pages
at the top of the list. I recently found this SOCIETY page, and decided to join.
You can listen to my band at http://www.mp3.com/reesas!
Hello to all you other Reesa's out there! Aren't we special?
